Highlights from the past week's meetings & events​

3/21/2018 - Zoning Board of Appeals. The Board met to hear the four appeals. The first appeal came from John Radley. Ridley is looking to demolish the front of a single family dwelling and reconstruct a two-and-a-half story addition to the existing single family dwelling. Next was Bryce Gibson, he wants to add a 175 square foot storage/workroom attached to the rear of an existing free-standing garage. The third appeal of the evening came from James Wood. Mr. Wood wants to be allowed a four (4) foot front yard setback instead of the allowed 25 feet to demolish and reconstruct the existing front wall and roof of a single family dwelling. Finally, the Board heard from representatives for the Horse Thieves Tavern. They are seeking a waiver from the Town of Dedham Sign Code for their front window.

Week of March 12, 2018

3/12/2018 - Master Plan Implementation Committee. Committee started with upcoming municipal meetings of importance and gave an update on the hiring of new Town Planner (Second interview on promising candidate - town hopes to make an offer soon). Next, the committee reviewed the next steps for the 2020 Master Plan which included discussions about organizing a workshop to engage stakeholders in the development of the RFP. After Committee Governance, the meeting concluded with a presentation on proposed Overture development and Age Restricted Housing Zoning Amendment. Full notes available on the Community Notes Page.

3/17/2018 - The Town reports that the Town website survey shows the site has room for improvement. If you haven’t yet, please take the survey.

Week Of March 4, 2018

3/01/2018 Board of Selectmen meeting:
  • There was an update on the Ames project: 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors are about 90% complete.  1st floor/senior center is about 65% complete.  New ETA for move-in is May.
  • Comcast license has been extended through 2027.
  • FY19 Budget highlights were provided by Jim Kern.  Check out the minutes to find out about changes to the residential tax rate.
  • Horse Thieves Tavern tentative grand opening is June.
  • Selectman Teehan made a statement regarding the Rail Trail, called for civility and willingness to listen to all sides of the issue.

3/06/2018 - The Town Manager's office posted a listing for a vacancy on the Transportation Advisory Committee. Applications are should be sent to the Town Manager or emailed to nbaker@dedham-ma.gov by close of business on March 18th, 2018.
